Additional information - DOT Physical Exam
You must undergo a DOT medical examination in order to be able to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). This exam assesses your overall physical health.
The medical examiner performing your DOT physical will ask you to complete a specific healthcare history form, which will ask you questions about your medical history and current health status.
During your DOT physical, you will have a comprehensive physical examination to assess your hearing and vision as well as blood pressure. A urinalysis is required and will be performed. Additional in-office tests, such as an electrocardiogram, may be performed.
Each of the tests you take is designed to determine whether you are in good enough health to operate a commercial vehicle safely.
Once you pass the Department of Transportation physical examination, you will be issued a medical certificate that will allow you to operate a commercial vehicle for two years if you do not have an initial physical or psychological condition that necessitates more frequent testing.
Med-Plus Immediate Care maintains current and thorough knowledge of DOT medical requirements. Most of our clinicians are certified DOT medical examiners.
